Established in the year 1995, airBaltic is a state-owned Latvian low-cost carrier and also country’s national carrier. The airline that was established as a joint venture between Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and the Latvian state primary hub at the Riga International Airport and secondary hubs at Tallinn Airport and Vilnius Airport. The airline is headquartered in Marupe municipality, Latvia. The first airBaltic flight took off from Riga in a Saab 340 aircraft in October 1995.
The airline opened its cargo department in the year 1997. Also, airBaltic has its own loyalty program called PINS. The flyers enrolled with the frequent flyer program earn loyalty current called ‘PINS.’ The members of the loyalty program get a wide array of benefits like free baggage allowance, no queues, reserved seats and much more.
The airline has its codeshare agreements with almost 20 different airlines such as Air Berlin, KLM, British Airways, Aeroflot, Iberia and Etihad Airways. The carrier has grabbed many awards in the past including anna.aero ANNIES Award in 2010, and punctual airline in the world in 2014 and 2015.
Connectivity and Fleet Size
Direct year-round and seasonal airBaltic flights fly to over 50 destinations in Europe and beyond from Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. Make airBaltic reservations for top non-stop routes like Riga-Berlin, Riga-Paris, Tallinn-Amsterdam, Tallinn-Vienna, Vilnius-Berlin, Paris-Riga, Stockholm-Riga, Amsterdam-Vilnius, etc. However, long-haul flights are not operated.
Currently, the airBaltic fleet consists of 25 in-service aircraft – six Boeing 737-300, five Boeing 737-500, three Bombardier CS300 and 12 Bombardier Q400.

Inflight Meals - airBaltic passengers can pre order their meal at least 24 hours until departure at airBalticMeal.com. The selection range is wider than on board, and Economy passengers are among the first served.
Unaccompanied Minors - Unaccompanied minor service is provided for children aged five and over. The airline ensures that the child is under supervision from check-in until the child has met his/her parent upon arrival at the airport.
In-flight Shopping – The flyers onboard airBaltic flights can shop from a range of Sky Shop items as listed in the onboard menu card.
Baggage Policy
Carry-on Baggage
For Basic or Premium ticket – Passengers can carry one cabin bag (55*40*20 cm) and 1 personal item (30*40*10 cm).
For Business or PINS VIP card – Passengers can carry two cabin bags (55*40*20 cm) and 1 personal item (30*40*10 cm).
The maximum weight of the cabin bag and the personal item for the passengers holding basic or premium tickets should not exceed 17.5 lbs. Also, personal items can include a handbag, camera bag, laptop bag and umbrella.
Checked-in Baggage
All Business class passengers flying aboard airBaltic flights are permitted to carry 2 bags not weighing over 88 lbs in total for no extra charge. Whereas the premium class passengers can carry one bag with maximum weight of 44 lbs.
If any checked baggage exceeds the given weight, passengers will be required to pay an amount of 50 EUR baggage fee. This fee is applicable for per bag not per kg.
In case, your checked baggage exceeds the maximum dimensions of 100*50*80 cm, an amount of 60 EUR will be imposed per one way journey.
